Mie by Sporting Club Boca Chica

Location is great but it is overpriced. They sold me a 1 fish as 2 lbs for 1300 per lbs. and it was not 2 lbs. service is good, beers were cold. All in all would go again.

We drove and directions from Waze took us through the Whala! parking lot. The attendants told us Sporting does not have parking, so we paid $3.50 US to park in their lot. While we may have been able to find street parking, the secure lot seemed well worth a few dollars. We visited on Jan 2 so not sure if it was just because it was the day after the holiday or if that’s indicative of an average day but the vibe was super chill. We didn’t have a reservation but were fortunately able to get a table with a sofa, likely one of the last ones given the long list of reservations I saw. We arrived around 11am, it filled up by mid-afternoon but never felt slammed. As you enter, behind the bar, you can see into the large, very clean kitchen. Caribbean covers of popular songs fill the air. If you’re seated under or adjacent to the covered area, huge fans offer a constant breeze. Among our group of 9, everyone thought the food was very good to excellent. An order of bruschetta is “a la casa”, definitely try a little of the red pepper oil on it! French fries are crispy. The calamari frito are big and have a light tempura type of breading - just the way we like them! The risotto camarones de sanchez had huge shrimp in it and the flavor was fantastic - you will not be disappointed. Pasta Mediterranea was very good. Penne Filete de Pescado was very good. Spaghetti 4 quesos was good. We had varying opinions of the club sandwich, that had what appeared to be tuna salad on it - from just okay to good (which may be based on how well they like tuna). Linguine with mushrooms was very good. And the Presidentes are bien fria! Our waiter, Miguel, was very attentive and provided arguably the best service of any place we visited in Juan Dolio or Boca Chica in over a week. Sporting was definitely one of the most expensive restaurants we visited on our trip, but was well worth it.

Clean access to the beach, food was okay, music too loud but hey it was live music so that awesome. If you’re looking for quiet relaxing atmosphere this is probably not the right one. But if you’re into more hyped scenarios to drink and dance enjoy your time then this is the place.
